 Philanthropy

Our national philanthropy is C.A.S.A., which stands for Court Appointed Special Advocates. C.A.S.A. was formed in 1990 by a Seattle judge who was concerned about making decisions for abused and neglected children's lives without sufficient information. He conceived the idea of using trained community volunteers to speak for the best interests of these children in court. The Seattle program was so successful that soon judges across the country began utilizing citizen advocates. In 1990, the U.S. Congress encouraged the expansion of C.A.S.A. with passage of the Victims of Child Abuse Act. Today more than 900 C.A.S.A. programs are in operation, with over 70,000  C.A.S.A. volunteers.

Fiesta de CASA
fdc
Fiesta de CASA is a Latin-themed dinner night at the Kappa Alpha Theta house. Guests enjoy a taco bar and other refreshments, while also taking part in severeal contests and raffles. In April we held our 2010 Fiesta de CASA event and we are proud to say we raised over $1500 for CASA and the Kappa Alpha Theta Foundation.
